Between all the weddings we have been shooting along with the time we have spent at our day jobs, we haven’t had any time lately to have a day off together as a family. But with this July 4th weekend, we took a break from everything and went on a family adventure. I feel like it’s probably going to be a little while before we start scaling mountains with Julian, so we decided to start a little smaller. We took him to the Cape May Zoo.
It’s been years since Laura and I went to the Cape May Zoo, so we decided it was time for us to revisit and we thought Julian would have some fun seeing some new animals outside of Ellie and Finn.
After fighting through New Jersey shore traffic on the Parkway, we made it to the Cape May Zoo in just a little over two hours. We parked the car and made our way into the zoo, where we saw some farm animals. Julian seemed pretty excited to see the goats. The cow, on the other hand, didn’t want anything to do with us. We made our way around the zoo, checking out giraffes, zebras, and cheetahs. Julian didn’t seem too interested in a lot of the animals, I think mainly because they were far away from him.
It was getting close to closing time, so we started making our way out of the zoo, but made sure to give a bear a high five on the way out.
On the way back home, we stopped for some ice cream. Julian is like his mother and loves ice cream, so it was a great time and a great way to finish our little adventure. We can’t wait to take Julian on some even bigger adventures later this year!
